Greetings from the Pikes Peak Woodturners (PPWT) club, serving the Colorado Springs, El Paso County area. Our club has been affiliated of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) since 1988, and we are one of the oldest organizations dedicated to woodturning.
We meet the first Friday of every month, at the Bemis School of Art — upstairs classroom, 818 Pelham Place, Colorado Springs
Our meetings run from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, and include a demonstration, instant gallery and raffle. Please check the Demo schedule on this website, or the current newsletter, for specific meeting details.
Our mission of the PPWT is to further the art and craft of woodturning in all its forms though education, community outreach and a shared sense of the beauty of woodturning. Our turners encourage the development of skills and techniques that help interested artists achieve their potential.
Our May demonstrator will we be Jason Clark. His work allows the defects and flaws of the wood accentuate the beauty of his work. He uses oil finishes to allow the grain and natural colors to stand out but remain unchanged. You can check him out http://www.jtcturning.com
The President’s challenge for May is to turn something hollow! Bowls don’t count 🙂
